cacao /kə-kou′, -kā′ō/

Cacao comes from the evergreen tropical tree Theobroma cacao, where vibrant pods grow from the trunk and older branches. Inside the sweet white pulp are the seeds, or cacao beans, that become the creation of what we call cocoa, chocolate and ceremonial cacao.
